Time is Art in Australia

time is art, Melbourne, theater, premiere, movieMelbourne based holistic partnership Soul Symmetry International will host the official Australian Premiere of ‘Time is Art’ on February 12th. The launch for this inspirational independent film was a sell out in New York. Mark Bentley of Perth, Australia will also bring the film to theaters via the grassroots crowdsourcing platform Tugg.com on April 27th.

Widespread international interest for this project has encouraged the Eastern Suburbs duo to present this evocative documentary film to enthusiastic Australians.

Multi-published author and spiritualist, Anthony Kilner of Soul Symmetry International believes there is a growing demand from Australian audiences for films that combine imagination, spiritual purpose and inspiration.

“There has been overwhelming interest from the public about this film. Presenting it as an Australian first in Melbourne is very exciting.” He said.

Chris Mackey, Psychologist and author of ‘Synchronicity’ will be doing a talk based on his own experiences with synchronicity at the premiere.

This beautifully filmed documentary explores many of the theories of acclaimed and visionary author, José Argüelles’. It explores his studies in ancient indigenous wisdom and the idea that modern humanity is immersed in an erroneous and artificial perception of time that deviates from the natural order of the universe. Filmmakers Katy Walker, Joel Mejia and Maia Monasterios believe that for those paying attention, we are living in extraordinary times. Katy, went on to say, “Independent voices have risen to educate the people about what is really going on. Time Is Art was born from the combination of necessity and opportunity.”

ShirleySienna Coventry believes that Australian audiences are hungry for films that explore important ideas that create a more balanced world. Soul Symmetry International is passionate about filling this void.” She said.

The journey of a writer, compelled to make sense of the mysterious and powerful energy she felt at her aunt’s deathbed is followed. Considering herself a skeptic, a series of strange coincidences leads her on an exploration of synchronicity. The premise that we have become disconnected from the natural rhythms of the earth by focusing only on money, consumerism and exploitation is explored.

Jacob Devaney of Uplift.com said, “Science continues to validate the power of art to effect consciousness. This film asks us to consider what life would look like if it was valued through the lens of art instead of time or money.”

The film received Documentary Feature Official Selection for the Blow-Up Chicago International Arthouse Film Festival 2015. The premiere will be held on February 12th, 2016 at 7pm at Karralyka Centre Theatre, Mines Road, Ringwood, Victoria.

The film premiered to a sold out audience in NYC on 11.11 as as well 5 other cities in 3 different countries. We have had so many people reach out about doing screening in their country and also to have the film translated into several different languages. The film is currently translated in Spanish and you can also watch it ‘On Demand’ at the link below. (We are still working on the trailer en Español.)

‘El Tiempo Es Arte’ es en última instancia, la historia de la búsqueda de un artista en busca de inspiración en una sociedad impulsada por el dinero, que huye de la creatividad y de la búsqueda humana de significado en un mundo aparentemente sin sentido.

Time is Art 11/11 Film Premiere

time is art, in theaters, 11/11
Choosing a date like 11/11 for a film premiere seems like a no brainer for a documentary about synchronicity and the collective dream. We have to admit, we knew going into this that it’s not recommended to set a release date for a film, (you should never do it for an album) before its complete. However, 11/11 is such an auspicious date for the project, we just couldn’t resist.  Here we are a little less than a month before the premiere and the film is literally as I write this, being overnighted to get a DCP screener made for the theaters so Tugg can list the dates of the screenings. Tugg is a start-up who is “blowing up” and are backed up on the DCP creation so we have to wait another week before we get into theaters. Tugg requires RSVPS or pre-sales/reservations of 60-70 people in order to confirm the theatrical screenings.  [Update] Tickets are now available but we don’t have much time to confirm the screenings!

But what’s great about being a filmmaker today is you have crowdfunding platforms that allow you to reach a much larger audience without having to go through the unbelievably clickish film industry. Being a part of the ‘in crowd” of film production takes the saying “it’s all who you know” to an entirely new level. I was not born into a family that had connections. I’ve always felt I was a bit of an outsider and never felt a part of any scene or network. The film facebook page just recently reached 5,000 likes, which still seems unreal to me. We are so thankful to have built a community that is inspired by the film.

Being that we are first time filmmakers, this film has been a truly DIY experience from the very beginning.  For over three years we have been recording and filming and editing and filming and editing and re-writing and recording, experimenting with ideas with no clear reference point. We suffered set backs and yes we got burned by people we thought we could trust. People’s dark sides and insecurities came out and we argued over legal issues, but eventually like all film producers who know what it takes to complete a film, we persevered. It was our collective dream to make this film happen and today we officially did it!!

Instead of feeling pressure to finish the film (fortunately we had no agents or executive producers breathing down our necks like most filmmakers) I felt so much positive energy and encouragement from people who see the need for a film like this to get out into the world. Even without seeing the whole film, its like they could sense its power to effect people and the collective consciousness.

“The investigators at The Global Consciousness Project (GCP) associate these anomalies to the effect of the human mind on matter beyond the frontiers of its normal sphere of influence. It might be that our brain are communicating on invisible pathways all the time. But that this electrical activity becomes more profound when the collective consciousness of millions of people is focused on a single event. This results in a field of consciousness that is strong enough to effect artificial intelligence within its vicinity.” – LJ Vanier

We had nowhere near a million people of course, but we felt the people we connected with via the indiegogo campaign and facebook (from all over the world), in many ways through their fascination with synchronicity, played a part in making the project happen.  The universe does after-all conspire to help us, if we’ll just let it.

In the film, author, Amy Lansky, talks about how the collective consciousness predicted the tragedy on September 11th which the GCP studied and recorded.

“…what is even more baffling is that these anomalies are mostly predictive. Often happening hours before the original event takes place. Researchers found one such significant irregularity 4 hours prior to the September 11 attacks. Where the mathematically analysis of the data showed that the New York computer broke the 1 to 0 ratio of 50:50 to 1:35!” – LJ Vanier

This film is also definitely serving as a wake-up call.  On Wednesday 11/11, it’s your opportunity to tune into a film that is unlike you have every seen before!

“11:11 is the universe’s way of urging us to pay attention to our heart, our soul and our inner intuition. It’s serving as a wake-up call to us so that opportunities are not missed in this lifetime. Seeing this particular sequence means that the universe is trying to have us open our eyes and begin paying more attention to the synchronicities around us.” – Kate Rose

Doing a one day worldwide screening is like getting together on Earth Day to do something special for our beautiful planet. Our vision is to get as many people as possible watching the film on the same day, at around the same time. Like a mass mediation or a prayer.

“Recent studies into the effects of prayer offer new credibility to ancient propositions suggesting that we may “do something” about the horrors of our world, both present and future. These studies add to a growing body of evidence suggesting that focused prayers, especially those offered on a large scale, have a predictable and measurable effect on the quality of life during the time of the prayer. Documenting statistical changes in daily life, such as specific crimes and traffic accidents, while prayers are offered, a series of studies show a direct relationship between the prayers and the statistics. During the time of the prayers, the statistics drop. When the prayers end, the statistics return to previous levels.

Scientists suspect that the relationship between mass prayer and the activity of individuals in communities is due to a phenomenon known as the field effect of consciousness. Much like Joseph’s description of the sage, where the experience of one plant affects the entire field, studies of specific population samples appear to bear out this relationship. Two scientists considered to have played a key role in the development of modern psychology clearly referenced such effects in studies offered nearly one hundred years ago.” – Gregg Braden

We hope you can make it to an 11/11 premiere, so stay tuned for updates! Don’t forget to watch the official Time is Art Film trailer.

Time is Art Final Cut

Joel chilling on the lake trying to learn guitar
Joel chilling on the lake trying to learn guitar

Thanks to our good friends John Hazard (check out one of his talks he gave at one of our events) and his lovely wife, we have been relaxing as much as possible near Ellenville, NY in the Catskills region while we finish the final cut of the film. Nature as always has been our greatest inspiration.  The little cottage we are staying in is on a picturesque, clear lake filled with lotus flyers.  In between marathon sessions Joel has been learning guitar to relax. Mother Nature has always provided everything we needed. Fruit from the nearby organic farms and well water (no fluoride) was just what the inner doctor ordered.

Besides cutting the film down to 90 minutes, we’ve been adding additional music cues, beautiful aerial shots by Dan Baker who has mastered flying the go-pro drone camera as well as his video art. The editing alone has been 9 months in the making, its literally as if we have birthed our first child!

We also swam in magical Lake Minnewaska near New Paltz, which had an immediate effect on our well being. Finishing a project of this magnitude has definitely taken its toll. We’ve pulled numerous 16 hour Final Cut Pro editing sessions not without major technical difficulties and setbacks . But we are thrilled to finally hand off the picture locked files to Eric Alvarado our colorist (who just finished the Daily Show replacement on Comedy Central) who is excited to work on such an “important film” (his words). Timewheel AV is also thrilled to be adding the finishing touches to the film, providing additional music, mixing and mastering. During our Indiegogo campaign they were a HUGE help in terms of sharing the film, and were also generous enough to master our 2015 Teaser/Extended trailer. It’s going to sound incredible once they add their magic touch.

The next step is planning the 11/11/15 worldwide premieres, finding the right PR company at a rate we can afford and hiring someone to make an amazing trailer. If you want to bring the film to your city, complete this form, and if you know of any amazing trailer editors, send them our way! Don’t forget you can pre-order the film or DVD Package. We still need to raise a good amount of money for marketing.

THANK YOU again to all our Indiegogo supporters, especially our associate producer, Robert J, Barnhart, from my old stomping grounds in Austin, TX. We are looking forward to his new film “A New Understanding: The Science of Psilocybin“. We would not be making this film if was not for your generous support! We feel it deep in our hearts this film is going to be EPIC and open so many more hearts to this new (yet ancient) way of being, a renewed relationship with ourselves and the earth.

jocelynAs a channeler, Jocelyn James often channels guidance directly or listen and repeat the messages of those who guide the reading. And as a medium, she looks into the spiritual realms and gift you with the insight that can answer your questions and bring you clarity with your circumstance.

Archangels are powerfully aligned with the Creator and give unconditional love without judgement. Many people are now facing challenges of abuse, grief and purpose in their lifestyles. Angels understand that these problems exist and consciously support how we can overrule these ideas as realities. When these readings are done they can challenge the need to exist in judgement of our light.

Angels are spiritual beings of light that come when we call. When I offer readings, I call upon the Archangel realm. Archangel Michael helps me guide these readings and then as I channel their wisdom comes through.

Jocelyn is also featured in the forthcoming film ‘Time is Art’!

From 17 years of deeply and intimately exploring the harmonic matrix through the Mayan Calendar and understanding through experience the enlightenment process, Vasumi shares her quest.

Revelations received over the past 20 years of diligently exploring the real and unreal have enabled her to embrace a totally new paradigm that has its roots in the harmonic web of all of life, her experiences with the Tzolkin of the Mayan Dreamspell Calendar have proved this foundation as the basis for living the experience of the New Time.

It is based on the Dreamspell system, with its foundation in the Mayan Calendar of theYucatec region of southern Mexico and also on the Olmec teachings which pre-date theMaya… This system is especially helpful at this time, when we are asked to release attachment to all things that do not support the shift into a more conscious way of living, inter-connected with all life, in alignment with our Mother Earth and indeed all of consciousness…

Vasumi, Kin 71, Blue Rhythmic Monkey, shares daily writings which serve to usher us through the door of Conscious Evolution, by exploring and expanding the edges of our daily life through playing with the magic of this harmonic system, balance is found through listening to heart inner-sense. Allowing ‘Self’ (cell-f) to push the boundaries of out-moded thought prisons and power-over paradigms, initiating the magic of living the natural harmonies which underlie all life…

Vasumi came to the Dreamspell through Ramana Maharshi, after she received the grace of Source consciousness through his disciple, Annamalai Swami.

Guided to return to NZ from India, she was led by synchronicity to a workshop, teaching the structure of this harmonic system. With recognition of the system, she realised she was here to share it, guiding others. She continually explores, tests and challenges the Tzolkin. as it reflects her experience of Source revealing itself, in its daily order which we can experience, should we have the heart to feel, the eyes to see and the ears to listen, openly and with the intent of experimentation, by laying aside pre-conceived knowing… It is from this place that she blogs each day to share this ongoing exploration…

She encourages you not to take this work as the ‘be all and end all’ of consciousness, nor to identify too deeply with ones signature, in the knowing that we are all an ‘everything’, and encourages embodiment of infinite potential, with the knowing that this tool can be used to unlock the old paradigms hold over the collective, by opening and beckoning the logical mind through the doorway to embrace the unknowable…

The filmmaker’s aims for this film go beyond documenting the awakening of an artist. Embedded within the narrative is an implicit call to action. “We want to show people an alternative to the current system,” says producer Katy Walker.  “We want people to come away from seeing ‘Time is Art’ and think, ‘Wow, I see an alternative to the materialistic and exploitative money-driven society we are all expected to live in. There are other ways of understanding the universe.’”

Adds director Joel Mejia, “We want to contribute to the awakening in global consciousness that we are witnessing right now. We want to contribute to the increasing number of conversations about our understanding of time, space and interconnectedness that are resonating with so many people right now.”

The title, ‘Time is Art’, coined by the visionary author, José Argüelles, whose work is a major inspiration for the film, is a twist on the catch phrase “time is money”. In the world of the film, “time” is unyoked from the relentless pursuit of material and capital gain and the audience is given an alternative framework: ‘What if we lived in a world where time is linked with creative potential and art?’—hence the film’s title, “Time is Art”.

Katy Walker says, “More and more people are looking outside of the narratives that society gives us about how to live their lives. There is a dearth of media that explores these counter-narratives, and that is the focus of all our work, including ‘Time is Art’.”

The film’s Indiegogo campaign will run from June 3rd to July 14th. The trailer, pitch video, and additional information about the production are available on the Indiegogo site, as well as perks like a special dinner with the filmmakers and passes to the premiere in NYC as thanks for contributing to the Indiegogo campaign.

We are also excited to have the film translated into additional languages so we can reach more people. If you have spanish or french speaking friends please share the videos below! We are also looking for Russian and Chinese.

Time is Art Film Crowdfunding Launches June 3rd

This month we begin the process of prepping our final crowdfunding campaign launching June 3rd via Indiegogo. With the help of an amazing campaign manager, we are confident we can raise $25,000 which will go to sound fixes, audio mix, sound design and color correction as well as a basic marketing plan and legal fees, (along with Indiegogo & Paypal and the campaign manager who take a substantial cut).

Fundraising can be a traumatic part of the filmmaking process. All artists have to raise funds, wether through the tedious process of writing grants and getting rejected over and over again or through a more grass roots process like crowdfunding. Apparently, if you are making your first film, it’s nearly impossible to get a grant. Once you complete a film, your chances are much higher. It’s the chicken before the egg scenario. Thank God for crowdfunding!

Most people have heard of Kickstarter and thanks to a 30 year old Orsen Well’s film, a lot more people are hearing about Indiegogo.

“It’s easy to imagine that crowdfunding is a medium Welles would have approved of. He frequently ran into funding issues and troubles with Hollywood, leading him to take on acting roles to support his movies. It’s taken a long, long time, but it seems like Welles’ fans will finally be able to get The Other Side of the Wind the funding it needs to be finished. ” – The Verge

It’s clear that the mainstream media paradigm that Hollywood has been programming the masses with (ie American Sniper) is not going to support projects that disclose information that actually helps to deprogram people. Some of the topics in our film are certainly controversial. New science is finally on the verge of proving what many indigenous people and shamans all over the world have felt intuitively or through plant medicines for thousands of years.  Our small team is incredibly blessed to be a part of this project and are ready share this powerful message (without the usual cliches and boxed in formats).

It’s undeniable that the process of making this film has truly been a miracle in the making. Clearly the universe is conspiring to make this film happen. We are in gratitude to our ever growing community of supporters.  Through the VOD platform VHX, we have had many  pre-sale orders and although we don’t see those funds until the film is released, it’s encouraging to know that people are excited about this important conscious raising film. As first time feature documentary filmmakers, building an audience from the ground up has been both a challenging and humbling journey, at times, we have traversed through the dark night of the soul.

Our first crowdfunding campaign was an intense learning experience, to put it mildly. Last July we raised over $5k to fund a film shoot to Joshua Tree, a magical desert outside of L.A. We had two successful events and although we didn’t plan it exactly right, (always plan at least two months in advance of your campaign launch date), we were successful in building our community and funding our most important film shoot which included Toko-pa, Gary Bobroff, Graham Hancock, Rupert Sheldrake & Dr. Jim Tucker. Although TAC Productions and the film is still “under the radar”, we feel that at some point very soon, especially with the help of the crowdfunding campaign, the “tipping point” will be reached.

Time is Art film crew & the Synchronicity Symposium

Synchronicity Symposium

Thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign, the crew flew out to California and has  now returned from the amazing Synchronicity Symposium organized by author and speaker, Gary S. Bobroff, held at the Joshua Retreat Center! The land was magical and the mysterious Joshua Trees seemed to literally be talking to us (albeit through plant telepathy).

The Synchronicity Symposium was fascinating. It was a true meeting of the minds and hearts of authors and supporters of consciousness studies. We were also able to screen our 2014 trailer which helped spread the word about the film.  It was a joy to share the film and meet new people in support of this important project. People not only purchased t-shirts but offered to host a screening when the film is completed!
